That was the sentiment expressed by both Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson yesterday after The Vice President made it clear during an interview that he is not bothered in the slightest what the American people think.
In the interview with ABC News, reporter Martha Raddatz questioned Cheney's statement that "there's a general consensus that we've made major progress" in Iraq:
"Two-third of Americans say it's not worth fighting," Raddatz said.
"So?" replied Cheney.
"You don't care what the American people think?" Raddatz asked.
"No," Cheney replied.
That about sums up the fact that the government has been usurped by those who do not care about America, who have no interest in the well being of the people and will grind the nation into the dust for their own evil gains until it is no more.
The icing on the cake however came with the reaction of MSNBC's talking hacks in the studio. If ever any thirty second soundbite could sum up the state of the media today then this is it.
Scarborough: "Look at his face, look how shaken up he is... The question was what do you do when two-thirds of American think this war is not worth fighting. Dick Cheney's response: 'So?' There's a guy that sticks his finger in the wind!"
Tucker Carlson: "He's kind of a hero in that way. I know I'll probably have my car egged for saying this, but ... it's so nice to see someone that old-school. 'Hey, you kids, get off my lawn.' That's Dick Cheney. I love that."
Watch the video:
Hey, isn't it great how the Vice President doesn't give a damn what the people of America think. Isn't it great that he can just lie and lie and lie and then say he couldn't give a crap. It's so old-school, like the times when we were ruled over by kings and queens. He's my hero, I love him.
These two pathetic excuses for journalists should be sent to rot in the pits of hell along with Cheney for disgracing our screens with their cowardly bootlicking propaganda.
Two days ago Dick Cheney marched into Iraq and from the safety of the heavily fortified green zone declared: "...the U.S. effort to install democracy and stabilize Iraq is a successful endeavor that has been well worth the effort."
But what about the thousands of dead troops, and the millions of dead Iraqis and the three trillion dollars spent so far? I hear you ask.
So?
What about the fact that Iraq is now controlled by armed militias, that the majority agree are worse than Saddam at his most brutal, and mired in an unending three way civil war? You may cry.
So?
What about the fact that as Cheney made his pronouncements, explosions rocked Baghdad and Karbala, leaving two more American soldiers dead and at least 40 civilians killed by a suicide bomber?
So?
You see Dick Cheney doesn't care what you think and neither do the corporate media lapdog whores who take great pride in telling you so.
Presumably this is the reason why Dick Cheney also continues to make the thoroughly debunked claim that there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the US invasion five years ago.
You'd think that with the release (albeit a stifled one) of a Pentagon report officially declaring that there was absolutely no connection between the two whatsoever, that Cheney would drop the matter.
But you're forgetting the fact that this is a guy who doesn't give a rat's ass what you or any other American thinks, so he just went on to repeat the same claim one more time anyway.
What a "kind of hero".
