 IRAQ WAR

The main reasons why George Bush attacked Iraq and Afganistan

are oil, natural gas and establishing military bases in the Middle East.

The following articles elaborate on these reasons for the deaths of over

100,000 Iraqis and over 1400 United States soldiers.  This does not

include the tens of thousands of innocent people who have been permanently

disabled as a result of injuries sustained in this war. Nor does this include

the thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians and United States serviceman

who have suffered and died from depleted uranium poisoning.

The page headings on the top of this page under the page title

"Iraq War" are links to numerous articles on this topic.

Pale Fire-White Death of Fallujah

Last month, the broadcast of a shattering new documentary provided fresh

confirmation of a gruesome war crime covered by this column nine months ago:

the use of chemical weapons by American forces during the frenzied, Bush-ordered

destruction of Fallujah in November 2004.

Using filmed and photographic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and the direct

testimony of American soldiers who took part in the attacks, the documentary

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION

Looted Hopes in Iraq

by Michael Hammerschlag

There has been much commotion over the lack of armor on Iraq vehicles and

vests, but that’s always been a trade-off: if you reinforce a HUMV enough to

survive an RPG strike, you may make it too heavy to accelerate enough to

avoid getting hit, and full body armor suits are great, except when 120° temperatures

causes heat prostration. As our death toll passes 2000, the far more egregious

outrage is why these hundreds of thousands of tons of ordnance were allowed

to be looted by insurgents in the first place.

Why We Must Leave Iraq
    By Larry C. Johnson
    Davidcorn.com

    Thursday 25 August 2005

Sometimes in life there are no good options. It is part of our nature to always assume that we can fix a problem. But in life there are many problems or situations where there is no pleasant solution. If you were at the Windows on the World Restaurant in the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 9 am on September 11, 2001 you had no good options. You could choose to jump or to burn to death. Some choice.

A hard, clear-eyed look at the current situation in Iraq reveals that we are confronted with equally bad choices. If we stay we are facilitating the creation of an Islamic state that will be a client of Iran . If we pull out we are likely to leave the various ethnic groups of Iraq to escalate the civil war already underway. In my judgment we have no alternative but to pull our forces out of Iraq . Like it or not, such a move will be viewed as a defeat of the United States and will create some very serious foreign policy and security problems for us for years to come. However, we are unwilling to make the sacrifices required to achieve something approximating victory. And, what would victory look like? At a minimum we should expect a secular society where the average Iraqi can move around the country without fear of being killed or kidnapped. That is not the case nor is it on the horizon.

Puerto Rico - US Iraq Dead DOUBLE What Pentagon Reports

From Dick Fojut
7-11-5

The Bush and Blair governments have repeatedly LIED to us about 9/11 - and their justifications for their "Wars Of Terror."

The "19 hijackers" list turns out to be phoney (by at least 7 "hijackers" found alive and well after 9/11) The 3 WTC skyscrapers were not destroyed by crashing airliners, but by CONTROLLED DEMOLITIONS.

9/11 quite likely was a FALSE FLAG operation. Treason from INSIDE America , not a "terrorist" attack from OUTSIDE.

Then they deceived us into attacking and invading Iraq with lies about imminently threatening (but non-existant) Weapons of Mass Destruction - and phoney Iraqi ties to Bin Laden.

The London Bombs may also be a False Flag "terrorist" attack to panic us into permitting them to accelerate their Wars Of Terror in Iraq - and soon upon innocent Muslims in Iran and Syria !

London: Bush's Flypaper Theory is Blown to Pieces
Posted July 7, 2005

Well, there goes that theory...

Odds are we probably won't be hearing for a while the Bush mantra that the reason we're fighting them over in Iraq is so we don't have to fight them here at home. For the last few months, this ludicrous shibboleth has been the president's go-to line -- his latest rationale for slogging on in Iraq .

Don't you love the way many in the media are trying to spin the

strategy, they are using it to promote Bush's failing agenda.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi: Suckering the Great Unwashed

Posted July 4, 2005

Now were expected to believe Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is in Iran . Quoting a
senior insurgency commander in Iraq , the Sunday Times said Zarqawi had
shrapnel lodged in his chest and may have been moved to Iran . It said his
supporters might try to move the Jordanian-born militant to another
country for an operation, reports Reuters.

Is it possible this senior insurgency commander is an idiot or possibly a
rank amateur? If indeed al-Zarqawi is the leader of the resistance, it
does not make sense for his top lieutenants to be so thoughtlessly
loquacious with the media and admit the wounding of al-Zarqawi and reveal
where he is. On the other hand, if al-Zarqawi is not connected to the
resistance but is instead a U.S. covert intelligence operation designed to
discredit the resistance and convince us they are little more than
criminals and sadists (to say nothing of idiots), the United States has
done an admirable job that is, an admirable job served up to those of us
who do not pay attention, who have abandoned common sense, and believe
everything the corporate media feeds us. As Bush and Crew demonstrated
when they fed us a passel of implausible lies in the lead up to the
invasion of Iraq, the passive and half-witted American news consumer will
believe just about anything, so long as some authoritarian character tells
him it is true. It matters not that the Abu Musab al-Zarqawi fairy tale is
completely over the top, even surrealistic.

Prewar Findings Worried Analysts
By Walter Pincus
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, May 22, 2005
On Jan. 24, 2003, four days before President Bush delivered his
State of the Union address presenting the case for war against Iraq,
the National Security Council staff put out a call for new
intelligence to bolster claims that Saddam Hussein possessed
nuclear, chemical and biological weapons or programs.
The person receiving the request, Robert Walpole, then the national
intelligence officer for strategic and nuclear programs, would later
tell investigators that "the NSC believed the nuclear case was
weak," according to a 500-page report released last year by the
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

US Had "Lied to Britain over the Use of Napalm in Iraq "

Posted July 2, 2005

Two weeks ago the UK Independent ran an article which confirmed that

the US had "lied to Britain over the use of napalm in Iraq ". (6-17-05)

Since then, not one American newspaper or TV station has picked up

the story even though the Pentagon has verified the claims. This is the

extent to which the American "free press" is yoked to the center of power

in Washington . As we've seen with the treatment of the Downing Street

memo, (which was reluctantly reported 5 weeks after it appeared in the

British press) the air-tight American media ignores any story that doesn't

embrace their collective support for the war.

The Other Bomb Drops

Jeremy Scahill Wed Jun 1, 6:29 PM ET

Posted June 4, 2005

It was a huge air assault: Approximately 100 US and British planes flew from Kuwait into Iraqi airspace. At least seven types of aircraft were part of this massive operation, including US F-15 Strike Eagles and Royal Air Force Tornado ground-attack planes. They dropped precision-guided munitions on Saddam Hussein's major western air-defense facility, clearing the path for Special Forces helicopters that lay in wait in Jordan . Earlier attacks had been carried out against Iraqi command and control centers, radar detection systems, Revolutionary Guard units, communication centers and mobile air-defense systems. The Pentagon's goal was clear: Destroy Iraq's ability to resist. This was war.

But there was a catch: The war hadn't started yet, at least not officially. This was September 2002--a month before Congress had voted to give President Bush the authority he used to invade Iraq , two months before the United Nations brought the matter to a vote and more than six months before "shock and awe" officially began.

At the time, the Bush Administration publicly played down the extent of the air strikes, claiming the United States was just defending the so-called no-fly zones. But new information that has come out in response to the Downing Street memo reveals that, by this time, the war was already a foregone conclusion and attacks were no less than the undeclared beginning of the invasion of Iraq .

A Look at The 'Powerful Jewish Lobby'

Posted May 15, 2005

By Mark Weber

For decades Israel has violated well established precepts of international law

and defied numerous United Nations resolutions in its occupation of conquered

lands, in extra-judicial killings, and in its repeated acts of military aggression.

Most of the world regards Israel 's policies, and especially its oppression of

Palestinians, as outrageous and criminal. This international consensus is reflected,

for example, in numerous UN resolutions condemning Israel , which have been

approved with overwhelming majorities.

"The whole world," United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan recently said,

"is demanding that Israel withdraw [from occupied Palestinian territories]. I don't

think the whole world ... can be wrong." [1]

Only in the United States do politicians and the media still fervently support

Israel and its policies. For decades the US has provided Israel with crucial

military, diplomatic and financial backing, including more than $3 billion

each year in aid.

Before his departure, CPA chief Paul Bremer issued 100 Orders to
dramatically restructure Iraq's economy to fit free-market ideals. And no
Iraqi, including future elected officials, can undo them.

The most important tools being used by the Bush administration to maintain
varying degrees of economic and political control in Iraq are the 100
Orders enacted by L. Paul Bremer, III, head of the now defunct Coalition
Provisional Authority (CPA) before his departure.
