The Liars Who Took Us to War February 16, 2011 February 2003 - Colin Powell waves a fake vial of anthrax as he tells the United Nations a whole host of lies, which the Bush administration knew (or should have known) were nothing but complete fabrications, in order to take the U.S. to war against Iraq. The main target of this criminal deception was the citizenry of the United States, which would be asked to fight and fund a pre-planned war of aggression. Eight years later, hundreds of thousands of Americans and Iraqis have been killed or maimed and untold billions of dollars wasted in an utterly criminal war. At what point will those responsible for egregious war crimes be held accountable for their actions? We have first-hand descriptions of biological weapons factories on wheels. The source was an eyewitness — an Iraqi chemical engineer who supervised one of these facilities. He was present during biological agent production runs. He was also at the site when an accident occurred in 1998. Twelve technicians died. - U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell telling the lies of Al-Janabi to the United Nations, 5 February 2003 The Iraqi defector who fabricated tales of mobile bioweapons trucks and clandestine factories has admitted for the first time that he lied and then watched as his lies were used to justify the war. Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, codenamed "Curveball" by German and American intelligence officials who dealt with his claims, told the Guardian, "They gave me this chance. I had the chance to fabricate something to topple the regime." Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, a.k.a. "Curveball" lives in Karlsruhe, Germany. As U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell gathered his notes in front of the United Nations security council, al-Janabi knew what Powell would say. Al-Janabi was, after all, Powell's main source, a man his German handlers had feted as a new "Deep throat" — an agent so pivotal that he could bring down a government. As Curveball watched Powell make the U.S. case to invade Iraq, he was hiding an admission that he has not made until now: that nearly every word he had told his interrogators from Germany's secret service, the BND, was a lie. CURVEBALL'S LIES EXPOSED IN 2000 The Guardian reports that Janabi claimed he was first exposed as a liar as early as mid-2000, when the BND (German intelligence agency) travelled to a Gulf city, believed to be Dubai, to speak with his former boss at the Military Industries Commission in Iraq, Dr. Bassil Latif. Even now, Curveball seems bemused that his lies got as far as they did. He says he thought the game was up by the end of 2000. By that point, the BND had flown to Dubai to interview his former boss at Iraq's military industrial complex, Dr. Basil Latif, who had told them that his former underling was a liar. Several British intelligence officers were present at the meeting with Latif. Their German counterparts left Dubai seeing their prized source in a new light. According to them, Curveball had claimed that Latif's son, who was then at school in Britain, was a procurer of WMD. That information was easily proven wrong by the British spooks. The BND then returned to Germany and sent an officer to confront their source. "He says 'there (are) no trucks'; and I say, ok, when (Dr. Basil says) there are no trucks then (there are none)," Curveball recalled in broken English. "I did not speak to them again until (the) end of May 2002." Al-Janabi's confession confirms that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was based on a whole series of lies that were known to be fabrications. These lies were pushed by the Bush administration and the Zionist-controlled press to start an illegal war of aggression that had been planned long in advance. This is exactly like the first war against Iraq in 1991 started by George H.W. Bush, which was foisted on the American people based on a similar pack of blatant lies about alleged Iraqi atrocities told to Congress by a young lady who turned out to be the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador. The war of aggression in Afghanistan, now in its tenth year, has also been based on a pack of lies about 9/11. The fact that these extremely costly and disastrous wars have all been sold to the public on lies, lies which were known to be fabrications at the time, should be ample cause to hold those who conspired to wage these wars of aggression accountable for crimes against the peace, the most serious of war crimes.
